Combined with the beautiful campus, international setting of Shanghai and your own determination, Donghua is the best place to call home whilst you study. The passion from the teachers is matched only by their teaching ability, tailoring the speed of the class to your needs. Using class discussions, role plays and activities (including day trips!), the teachers use class time wisely, to maximise your learning experience. Coming to Donghua has been life changing and I am very proud to say I learned Chinese in the heart of Shanghai.

Donghua is more of a family. This is where you feel welcomed, meet international friends not to forget the warm hearted teachers. It's the best place to study Chinese, the teaching methods, indoor learning games, outdoor activities, group work and the course books are very standard. All the co-workers are really helpful in ensuring the learning environment is conducive and secure. I am amazed by the beautiful compound, it gives you a feeling of staying even a bit longer to expound on Chinese culture.
DHU has a good location, all the necessary facilities are in the campus. The personal and teachers are very kind and easygoing, you'll feel like at home. After first course you'll have good basics for your daily life in Shanghai. So I would like to tell everyone who wants to apply to DHU - don't doubt, sign up, enjoy studying process and become the part of this big family.

Studying Chinese at Donghua University has by far been the best year of my life. The teachers here are very passionate about their job and they make everybody feel involved during classes. They understand that you cannot learn Chinese only by reading books so we also spend a lot of time having class discussions, playing games, working in groups and doing student presentations. This way we get to practice our oral Chinese a lot, which is one of the things that separates DHU from many other universities in Shanghai. I wouldn’t want to be any place else than here!

ICES has an excellent academic team of 60-70 Chinese instructors, among which approximately 70% have a Master's degree, and over 85% are graduated in majors related to teaching Chinese as a foreign language. This team is also rich in experience, since 17% of the instructors have more than 10 years' teaching experience; 36% have 5-10 years' teaching experience; 45% have 1-5 years' teaching experience. The score of the student assessment for the academic quality consistently reaches above 4.6 points out of 5 each semester.
ICES uses an encrypted information system to record students' registration and class information as well as their attendance, grades, comments, etc. In this way, both the teachers and students can access it online at any time.
Each course has a standard syllabus that includes the class objectives, use of teaching materials, study requirements, exam methods, and weekly teaching progress and assignments.
Every week, students will make self-evaluations on their ability goals, key vocabulary, core grammar and other content so as to understand the learning outcomes in a timely manner and meanwhile to facilitate instructors to adjust the teaching progress.
Tests are held on a regular basis and the test contents are identical for the same level. Teachers will review the papers altogether to check the students' study situation at one stage.
During the semester, a survey regarding eight aspects will be conducted to students. According to the comments on teaching capacity, methods, materials effects and etc, teaching quality is expected to be improved.
A wide variety of study resources are available for students, including the class PPT, QUIZLET, HSK tutoring materials, online class, students' reading materials, language practice task cards and ect.
